Middle East Technical University
The Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) was established in Famagusta in 1979 as an Institute of Higher Technology. Today, the university is a public educational institution and spans an area of over 615,000 square meters.
EMU was the first university in Northern Cyprus to train professionals in the fields of civil engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering.
The university holds an outstanding ranking—it is among the top 5% of universities worldwide and ranks second among Mediterranean universities. Additionally, its Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality is among the top three faculties of its kind in European universities.
EMU educates students according to international standards and is a full member of the International Association of Universities (IAU) under the auspices of UNESCO, the European University Association (EUA), the Community of Mediterranean Universities (CMU), and other prestigious international organizations.
The university places great importance on international recognition, as evidenced by multiple accreditations from various renowned international organizations. Almost all faculties at EMU hold accreditations granted by the European academic community.
